There are several cities near Lisbon that can be visited in the same day. Here are some options:
1. Cascais and Estoril: These two coastal towns are located just 30 minutes from Lisbon by train, and make for a great day trip. You can spend the day exploring the beaches, strolling along the promenade, and visiting the Casino Estoril.
2. Sintra and Cascais: If you have a full day to spare, you can combine a trip to Sintra with a visit to Cascais. Start by exploring the palaces and castles of Sintra in the morning, then take the train to Cascais for a leisurely afternoon by the beach.
3. Óbidos and Nazaré: For a taste of Portugal's medieval history and seaside charm, you can visit the walled town of Óbidos and the fishing village of Nazaré in the same day. Both towns are located about 1.5 hours from Lisbon by car or bus.
4. Sesimbra and Setúbal: If you're in the mood for seafood and beaches, you can visit the fishing village of Sesimbra and the port city of Setúbal in the same day. Both towns are located about 45 minutes from Lisbon by car or bus.
All of these cities can be easily reached by public transportation or rental car, and make for great day trips from Lisbon.
